Mechanical Engineering

Department of Mechanical Engineering

The Department of Mechanical Engineering is equipped with the best of resources to enrich the bloodline of the department ensuring high quality education to the students. The intense professional will of the faculty is the root for the sustained excellence of the department. The state-of-the-art Laboratories, the well-balanced curriculum and the faculty with iron-resolve address the cognitive capacities as well as practical hands on workshop experience of students in fulfilling the ever more pressing needs of the industry.

A major effort of the department is directed toward the creation of a stimulating intellectual environment in which undergraduate students can develop to their maximum potentials. Faculty members encourage undergraduate students to participate in both fundamental and applied research. Students have excellent opportunities to participate actively in the classroom and laboratories and to follow special interests within a subject area.

OBJECTIVE

  • 1. Preparation To prepare well-formed and successful Mechanical Engineers capable of becoming leaders in their profession. 2. Core Competence To apply sound knowledge in mathematical, scientific and engineering fundamentals required to solve engineering problems. 3. Breadth To carry out basic and applied research leading to new ideas, systems and devices in Mechanical engineering and interdisciplinary areas. 4. Professionalism To inculcate in students professional and ethical attitude, effective communication skills, teamwork skills, multidisciplinary approach, written ethical codes & guidelines and an ability to relate engineering issues to broader social context. 5. Learning Environment To provide with an academic environment of excellence, leadership and guidelines for life-long learning needed for a successful career.

QUALITY POLICY

  • an ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering, an ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data, an ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability, an ability to function on multidisciplinary teams, an ability to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems, an understanding of professional and ethical responsibility, an ability to communicate effectively, The broad education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context, a recognition of the need for, and an ability to engage in life-long learning, a knowledge of contemporary issues, and an ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice.

PROGRAMME OUTCOMES

  • Programme Outcomes describe what students are expected to know or be able to do by the time of graduation from the programme. On Completion of Computer Science and Engineering programme, the graduates will be able to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering principles design and construct a hardware and software system, component, or process to meet the desired needs, within the realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, and sustainability design and conduct experiments, as well as to organize, and analyze computer science and related problems identify, formulate, and solve hardware and software problems using computer engineering principles, interpret and make inferences from the resulting data function as effective member in a multidisciplinary and diverse teams solve professional, legal and ethical issues and responsibilities pertaining to computer engineering communicate effectively and present technical information in oral and written format utilize the computing knowledge in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context sort out contemporary issues in the field of computer science and engineering use the techniques, skills, and modern hardware and software tools necessary for computer engineering practice recognize the need for an ability to engage in lifelong learning demonstrate knowledge and understanding of engineering and management and apply these to manage projects effectively
